Our approach to COVID-19

COVID-19 has been, and remains a difficult time for all as would any similar pandemic. We have equipped our staff with every form of protective equipment, and placed supplies of protective equipment in all the homes of our clients. To date we have kept everyone 100% free of the virus.

Because of the difficulties some of our clients have faced we have helped them with ‘click and collect’ shopping, taking in newspapers, being able to talk to their families and send pictures, and spending that extra bit of time with people with dementia who really don’t understand what is happening.

What we can provide

Our services are for anyone who has become unwell or are unable to do some things for themselves, wish to leave residential care or hospital, and get back to their own home, or need a little short term help to ‘get back on their feet’.

We can help you decide what sort of package of care you need to keep you safely at home, and that includes whether your service is commissioned by Newcastle City Council, the Continuing Health Care Team, or privately.

Supporting relatives as well as our clients is very important to us particularly where people are dealing with dementia or a life limiting condition. Sometimes all that is needed is someone to talk to.

Recruitment and training with us

We ensure that all our staff are ‘checked and vetted’ before they are allowed to come into your home. That includes face to face interviews, references, DBS check, induction and shadowing an existing member of our team.

Everyone who joins our team, whether they have worked in care before, initially completes a two day Care Certificate course, followed by e-learning, level 2 medication, dementia and end of life training, and an National Vocational Qualifications course at levels 2 and 3.

We carry out lots of in-house training and have our own training facility where practical experiences can be gained in moving and transferring people, hand washing, using a hoist and being able to experience what it feels like.

We welcome visitors to our facility, and are happy for families and relatives to join in sessions to.
