Recruitment and training

Our support workers make this happen and provide vital care and support to people in need, they build strong and reliable relationships, listen to someone in need, enjoy listening to life stories even helping someone record these events for their family, and bring a brightness to everyday life.

How we recruit

Anyone given the choice would want to stay in their own for as long as possible and that is where we come in.

Being a support worker is rewarding, but needs commitment and professionalism from each individual joining our team. The people we support are vulnerable but benefit enormously from support from the right person. As in life, not everyone gets on but we do our best to ‘match’ support workers and clients for the best outcome.

We ensure that all our staff are ‘checked and vetted’ before they are allowed to come into your home. That includes face to face interviews, references, Disclosure and Barring Service checks, induction and shadowing an existing member of our team.

Training with us

We see staff training as a critical part of providing the quality care we promote.

We carry out lots of in-house training and have our own training facility where practical experiences can be gained in moving and transferring people, hand washing, using a hoist and being able to experience what it feels like to be helped.

We welcome visitors to our facility, and are happy for families and relatives to join in sessions too.

Joining our team

Everyone who joins our team, whether they have worked in care before, initially completes:

  • A two day Care Certificate course;
  • A range of e-learning courses;
  • Level 2 medication, dementia and end of life training: and
  • A National Vocational Qualification course at levels 2 and 3.

Staff have access to regular supervision and qualified staff carry out observation of practice visits to ensure the highest level of care is being delivered.

We talk to our clients to make sure that they feel confident with the people who are delivering their care, that they feel safe and are happy with the people who visit them.
